No. 3. H. M. Schooner Lady Prevost off Long Point 2nd June 1813

Sir

If you find that you cannot get round Long Point without stretching too far over to the Enemys coast thereby running the risk of being discovered and exposed to a superior force you may anchor close to the point but you are to weight the moment the wind come so fair as give you a course along the north shore of the Lake.

As I have every confidence in your courage & good conduct I trust you will give me no reason to alter my opinion of you I caution you against going too close to the Enemys shore as I know he has several Gun Boats well manned which he will send after you and your convoy.

No. 4. H. M. S. Queen Charlotte Amherstburg June 4th. 1813

Sir

I have the honor to acquaint you that I arrived here yesterday, in the Lady Prevost after a passage of four days from Long Point -- during which time I saw nothing that induced me to believe that the Enemy have any Naval force at sea as yet. The wind hanging to the South, & I could not reconnoitre Presque isle, as my intention was on sailing from Long Point -- but I hear from good authority that there are certainly two Corvettes building there, and that from the number of Men and ready re- sources they are possessed of -- they must be in a forward situation. To put all conjectures past doubt I intend going over there immediately to make such remarks & observations as may facilitate any Attack that may be made on that place as soon as the Genl. receives such reenforcements as may enable him to leave this station with a competent means of defence against any attack that Harrison may make during the absence of the Ships and troops.
