New to History Day?

More than just one day, History Day is a program that allows students to do independent research and create a project that has a life outside the program. Students choose a topic related to the annual theme and can create a paper, exhibit, documentary, performance or website. To participate in National History Day in Ohio, teachers, home school instructors, or advisors should fill out a pre-registration form (51k Adobe Acrobat PDF will load in new window). This form puts you on the teacher mailing list, ensuring you receive the fall intro packet with:

• Curriculum Book (4.1MB PDF will load in a new browser window and requires Adobe Acrobat ® Reader).
• Contest Rule Book (2.2MB PDF will load in a new browser window and requires Adobe Acrobat ® Reader).
• Important dates and workshop notices

After the first of the year, teachers who have pre-registered will receive registration forms for the District History Day. Ohio has eleven districts, each holding its own event. Click here for district boundaries, competition dates and locations.

The top projects at the district level move on to the Ohio History Day in Columbus.
