An Evening with the Post, America's Most Read Magazine
Ohio Historical Center, COLUMBUS

Norman Rockwell is most famous for the cover illustrations depicting everyday life he created for The Saturday Evening Post magazine over four decades. Consisting of current events articles, editorials, humor, poetry and original works of fiction, The Saturday Evening Post kept America well informed and entertained. Find out from one of its editors how the Post became one of America's most respected magazines and launched the career of America's best-loved illustrator. Echoes in Time Theatre presents 30-minute, solo performances exploring characters from America's past. Winter Wonderland Hike
Wahkeena Preserve, near LANCASTER
1 - 4 p.m.

This winter off-trail hike gives visitors a view of the more remote areas of the preserve that are inaccessible during other seasons. The site's topography can be seen clearly and you might be surprised at the vitality of the winter landscapes. This is a moderately strenuous hike and participants should be in good physical condition. Admission: $7/car, FREE/OHS members. For reservations, call 800.297.1883.

Winter Hike
Fort Ancient, OREGONIA

Come and enjoy the trails at Fort Ancient during the winter - the best time to view the earthworks. Reenactors and guides are stationed along the trail for an interesting interpretive experience. Technology Day Camp
Ohio Historical Center, COLUMBUS
9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Join the Ohio Historical Society and COSI for a technology day camp on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Young people ages 5-11 will literally step into and interact with 15 life-size, 3-D recreations of Norman Rockwell's Saturday Evening Post Covers. Through interactive hands-on activities, campers will explore the technology and inventions that changed the way we lived in the 20th century. Wrap-around care is available one hour before and after the camp. Cost is $60 for each participant and $50 for Ohio Historical Society members. Wrap-around care is an additional $5/hour. Woodland Indian Skills Day
Fort Meigs, PERRYSBURG

Join us for a day of hands-on learning about Woodland Indian crafts and culture. Learn from experienced instructors about quill working, tanning, natural dyeing with native plants, flint knapping, making rope from plant fiber, finger weaving and Woodland Indian games. Brrr! It might be cold outside, but you can beat the winter blues by experiencing summer in January. That's right! Join us after closing for a summer camping trip, museum style. Explore the galleries and Rockwell's Summertime, gather around the campfire for s'mores and ghost stories and escape the winter blues for awhile before falling asleep among the exhibits.
