At the Ohio Historical Center, located in Columbus, Ohio, and at our sites around the state, volunteers help people connect with the past to understand the present and create a better future. In order to meet our mission, the Society hosts a variety of opportunities to engage community members. Special events in the Ohio Village unite Ohioans as they experience a town during the civil war era. Tour guides create a world of wonder as they explore the museum with visitors of all ages. Educational aides inform students on important events in Ohio’s past. Library assistants help historians and scholars in their research. Archaeology and curatorial aides clean, store and preserve Ohio’s collections. Data entry clerks maintain the Society’s many databases. While museum shop attendants make sure everyone leaves with a little piece of history. No matter your interest and availability, the Society has a position for you.
The Society has sites all over Ohio. You can locate a site in your area and contact the site manager for volunteer opportunities. Listings of sites can be found at http://www.ohiohistory.org/places/.
