Historic Site Manager II - Adena
Summary:
Responsible for the operation, interpretation, management and maintenance of one major historic, natural, or prehistoric site as well as overseeing operations and maintenance of other unstaffed sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for: the operation, interpretation, and maintenance of the site; preparation and submission of daily and monthly reports and records as required; purchases, inventory, and receipts of a sales operation; maintenance of equipment; maintenance of buildings and grounds; security of Society property; community and public relations; interpretation of the site to visitors; and some research on the site.
- May be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of other nearby unstaffed sites.
- Support and coordinate event and program planning.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsible for supervision of site personnel.
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
A bachelor's degree in interpretation, management, park management, museum management or an area related to the site, or four years experience in interpretation and management, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience. Plus a culmination of supervisory, retail, community relations, and finance management experience to total five to ten years.
Certificates and Licensures:
Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and be insurable.
Language Skills:
Ability to communicate to the public.
Mathematical Skills:
Mathematical skills at the level needed to prepare and report records of budgeting, purchases, receipts of sales, inventory, etc.
Technical Skills:
Some sites may require knowledge of audio-visual and computer technology.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to manage many aspects of site operation and planning at the same time.
Physical Demands:
Prolonged walking or standing, bending, stooping and reaching. Requires eye-hand coordination in utilizing powered equipment, tools, or office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eye-sight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Requires working outdoors in all types of conditions. Requires frequent lifting of up to 75 pounds. Requires exposure to chemicals and toxic substances. Ability to work under high stress conditions keeping irregular hours.
Work Environment:
On-site work environment. Occasional evening and frequent weekend work. Involves frequent contact with staff and public. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Occasional work in heat, cold, wetness, dust, rain or snow.
